Em novembro de 2011, a maioria (71%) da área florestal da Amazônia Legal estavam cobertas por nuvens. Isso comprometeu a detecção do desmatamento e da degradação florestal para esse mês através das imagens MODIS utilizadas pelo SAD. Nessas condições foram detectados somente 16 quilômetros quadrados de desmatamento em novembro de 2011 na Amazônia Legal.
Dos 16 quilômetros quadrados de desmatamento detectados em novembro de 2011, 9 quilômetros quadrados (59%) ocorreram no Amazonas, 4 quilômetros quadrados (24%) no Pará, 2 quilômetros quadrados (12%) no Mato Grosso, e menos de 1 quilômetro quadrado em Rondônia e no Acre.
O desmatamento acumulado no período de agosto de 2011 a novembro de 2011, correspondendo aos quatro primeiros meses do calendário atual de desmatamento, totalizou 527 quilômetros quadrados. Houve redução de 12% em relação ao ano anterior (agosto de 2010 a novembro de 2010) quando o desmatamento somou 597 quilômetros quadrados.
As florestas degradadas na Amazônia Legal somaram somente 40 quilômetros quadrados em novembro de 2011. A maioria (63%) ocorreu no Mato Grosso, seguido pelo Pará (16%), Rondônia (16%) e Amazonas (5%).
A degradação florestal acumulada no período de agosto de 2011 a novembro de 2011 totalizou 1.285 quilômetros quadrados. Em relação ao período anterior (agosto de 2010 a novembro de 2010) houve redução de 54% quando a degradação florestal somou 2.787 quilômetros quadrados.
Em novembro de 2011, o desmatamento detectado pelo SAD comprometeu 2,5 milhões de toneladas de CO2 equivalente. No acumulado do período (agosto 2011 – novembro 2011) as emissões de C02 equivalentes comprometidas com o desmatamento totalizaram 34 milhões de toneladas, o que representa uma redução de 4% em relação ao período anterior (agosto de 2010 a novembro de 2010).
