Índices de ameaça e pressão de desmatamento em áreas protegidas na Amazônia aumentam 39% em um ano, mostra Imazon 2h2y49
De agosto de 2018 a julho deste ano, o Sistema de Alerta de Desmatamento do Imazon detectou um total de 5.054 km² de desmatamento na Amazônia Legal. Um novo estudo divulgado pelo instituto, que cruza esses dados do SAD para medir o nível de ameaça e pressão por desmatamento em Áreas Protegidas (APs), aponta um aumento de 39% nesses índices, em comparação calendário do desmatamento anterior, de agosto de 2017 a julho de 2018. O calendário é determinado pela épocas de chuvas na Amazônia.
Os dados são do relatório anual de ameaça e pressão em Áreas Protegidas do Imazon. O estudo revela ainda que, no comparativo com o ano ado, as mesmas APs continuam no ranking das que mais sofrem ameaça e pressão. A Resex Chico Mendes (AC), por exemplo, se manteve no topo como a AP mais ameaçada de desmatamento. A APA Triunfo do Xingu (PA) também seguiu como a área que mais foi pressionada.
Ameaça – Ameaça é a medida do risco iminente de ocorrer desmatamento no interior de uma área protegida. O Imazon utiliza uma distância de 10 km para indicar a zona de vizinhança de uma AP, onde a ocorrência de desmatamento indica ameaça. As áreas de proteção mais ameaçadas foram a Resex Chico Mendes (AC) e o Parna Mapinguari (AM/RO). Essas áreas estavam na lista das APs mais ameaçadas no ano ado e continuam este ano. Além dessas, outras 5 Áreas Protegidas se mantiveram no ranking das que mais sofrem ameaça por desmatamento.
Pressão – Pressão ocorre quando o desmatamento se manifesta já no interior da área protegida, o que pode levar à perdas ambientais e até mesmo redução ou redefinição de limites da Área Protegida. A APA Triunfo do Xingu (PA) e a Resex Chico Mendes (AC) foram as mais pressionadas. A Resex Chico Mendes (AC), que aparece entre as líderes no ranking de APs ameaçadas, também aparece na lista das áreas mais pressionadas. Ainda na lista das 10 áreas que mais sofrem pressão por desmatamento, 7 estão localizadas no estado do Pará.
Terras Indígenas – O Imazon também monitorou as Terras Indígenas (TI) mais ameaçadas e pressionadas. Entre agosto de 2018 a julho de 2019, as TI Malacacheta (RR) e Manoá/Pium (RR) foram as que mais mais sofreram pressão por desmatamento. A TI Malacacheta que aparecia em segundo lugar ranking das terras indígenas mais pressionadas no ano anterior, agora aparece no topo da lista. O ranking mostra ainda que, das 10 TI mais pressionadas, 5 ficam no estado de Roraima, 3 no Pará, 1 no Mato Grosso e 1 no Amazonas.
Já no ranking das terras indígenas mais ameaçadas, 6 estão no Pará, 2 em Rondônia 1 em Roraima, 1 no Amazonas e 1 no Mato Grosso. A TI Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau (RO) e a TI Trincheira/Bacajá (PA) estão no topo dessa lista das mais ameaçadas. As TI Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau (RO), Trincheira/Bacajá (PA) e Parakanã (PA), assim como no ano anterior, permanecem entre as 3 terras indígenas mais ameaçadas.
