Em outubro de 2020, o SAD detectou 890 quilômetros quadrados de desmatamento na Amazônia Legal, um
aumento de 49% em relação a outubro de 2019, quando o desmatamento somou 598 quilômetros quadrados. O desmatamento detectado em outubro de 2020 ocorreu no Pará (53%), Rondônia (12%), Acre (9%), Mato Grosso (9%), Amazonas (9%), Maranhão (5%), Roraima (2%) e Amapá (1%) .As florestas degradadas na Amazônia Legal somaram 2.351 quilômetros quadrados em outubro de 2020, o que representa um aumento de 279% em relação a outubro de 2019, quando a degradação detectada foi de 621 quilômetros quadrados. Em outubro de 2020 a degradação foi detectada no Mato Grosso (55%), Pará (38%), Rondônia (2%), Maranhão (2%), Tocantins (2%) e Acre (1%).
Em outubro de 2020, a maioria (53%) do desmatamento ocorreu em áreas privadas ou sob diversos estágios de posse. O restante do desmatamento foi registrado em Assentamentos (28%), Unidades de Conservação (15%) e
Terras Indígenas (4%).
