O Observatório do Clima, rede integrada pelo Imazon, se soma às entidades e organizações que pedem ação urgente e efetiva das autoridades em nível federal, estadual e local para encontrar os desaparecidos 2i284q
Diante do até agora inexplicado desaparecimento do jornalista inglês Dom Phillips, colaborador do jornal The Guardian, e do indigenista Bruno Araújo Pereira na região do Vale do Javari, no estado do Amazonas, o Observatório do Clima, rede composta pelo Imazon e mais 72 organizações da sociedade civil brasileira, se soma às entidades nacionais e internacionais que pedem ação urgente e efetiva das autoridades em nível federal, estadual e local, investindo todos os esforços disponíveis para encontrar os desaparecidos.
Phillips e Pereira desapareceram no domingo (5/6), quando realizavam um percurso entre a comunidade Ribeirinha São Rafael e a cidade de Atalaia do Norte. Eles se deslocavam de barco pelo rio Itaquaí após visita à Terra Indígena do Vale do Javari, território que tem um histórico de invasão de caçadores, pescadores e madeireiros. O desaparecimento se dá em meio ao aumento dos conflitos na região, movidos pelo garimpo ilegal, tema amplamente abordado nas reportagens do jornalista.
Bruno Araújo era alvo constante de ameaças pelo trabalho que vinha fazendo juntos aos indígenas contra invasores na região: pescadores, garimpeiros e madeireiros. Que as circunstâncias do desaparecimento sejam imediatamente investigadas, esclarecidas e divulgadas com a máxima transparência, e que o jornalista e o indigenista retornem em segurança ao convívio de seus familiares, amigos e colegas de trabalho.
