Desmatamento no Pará chega a quase 4 mil km² nos últimos 12 meses, maior derrubada entre os estados da Amazônia 4km15

Dados do Sistema de Alerta do Desmatamento (SAD), do Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia (Imazon), revelam que o Pará segue como o estado que mais desmata entre os nove que compõem a região amazônica. Nos últimos 12 meses, de agosto de 2021 a julho de 2022, foram derrubados 3.858 km² de florestas paraenses, o que representa 36% do total devastado na Amazônia (10.781 km²). Isso é equivalente a quatro vezes o tamanho de Belém.
Por causa da menor frequência de nuvens na região, esse período de agosto de um ano a julho do ano seguinte é chamado de “calendário do desmatamento”. No período anterior, entre agosto de 2020 e julho de 2021, a derrubada no Pará foi de 4.147 km². Ou seja: houve uma redução de 7% na perda de floresta, porém o estado segue com a maior área derrubada na região.
Apenas em julho, o desmatamento em solo paraense chegou a 583 km², 34% da área total derrubada na Amazônia. Ou seja, em apenas um mês foi registrado o equivalente a 58 mil campos de futebol derrubados. Em relação a julho de 2021, quando foram derrubados 771 km² no Pará, houve uma diminuição de 24% no desmatamento. Porém, apesar da queda, os números continuam elevados e mostram que a redução da floresta segue avançando em território paraense.
Em julho, quatro municípios paraenses ficaram entre os dez mais desmatados na Amazônia: Altamira (81 km²), São Félix do Xingu (76 km² ), Itaituba (51 km²) e Uruará (51 km²). Somados, eles registraram 259 km² de destruição, 44% de todo o desmatamento no estado.
Derrubada avança sobre terras indígenas e unidades de conservação 3s3c5x
Parte da destruição detectada nesses municípios ocorreu dentro de áreas protegidas, como a APA Triunfo do Xingu (71 km²) e o território Apyterewa (19 km²), respectivamente a unidade de conservação e a terra indígena que tiveram as maiores áreas derrubadas na Amazônia. Aliás, o Pará também foi o estado com o maior número de territórios protegidos entre os mais desmatados em julho: 12 das 20 terras indígenas e unidades de conservação. Somadas, apenas essas 12 áreas registraram 24,3% de toda a floresta derrubada no estado.
Além da APA Triunfo do Xingu, as outras cinco UCs paraenses que aparecem na lista das 10 mais destruídas são: APA do Tapajó, Flona do Jamanxim, Flona de Altamira, Esec da Terra do Meio e FES do Iriri.
Já em relação às terras indígenas, somente o território Apyterewa registrou 19 km² de desmatamento em julho. Essa área já havia aparecido em outros estudos do Imazon como a mais pressionada pelo avanço desse crime ambiental, devido à invasão de grileiros. As outras terras indígenas paraenses que aparecem entre as 10 mais destruídas foram: Trincheira/Bacajá, Cachoeira Seca, Andirá-Marau, Kayabi e Ituna/Itatá.
