Impacto das mudanças climáticas nas TIs é tema de discussões

A reunião do Núcleo Técnico do Plano de Gestão Territorial e Ambiental do Tumucumaque (PGTA), realizada de 24 a 26 de fevereiro, em Macapá, capital do Amapá, reuniu grupos originários, além de instituições governamentais e não governamentais, para avaliar e planejar ações nos territórios Parque Tumucumaque e Rio Paru d’Este.
Presidido pelas associações indígenas do Tumucumaque Oeste e Leste, a Apitikatxi e a Apiwa, o encontro anual funciona como espaço para a implementação e monitoramento do PGTA, um instrumento de gerenciamento das áreas com base em eixos como cultura, governança, território, manejo sustentável, saúde, educação e formação.
Este ano, o evento contou com a presença de representantes do Fundo Indígena Pankará, da Articulação dos Povos e Organizações Indígenas do Amapá e Norte do Pará (Apoianp), além de ONGs, como o Imazon e o Iepé, e de instituições governamentais, incluindo a Funai, o Instituto de Desenvolvimento Florestal e da Biodiversidade (IDEFLOR-Bio), o Ministério da Agricultura e Pecuária (Mapa), a Embrapa Amapá e instituições responsáveis pela educação e saúde indígena.
Impacto das mudanças climáticas nas aldeias m626
Durante a reunião, os indígenas relataram como as mudanças climáticas estão impactando as comunidades. Alguns dos exemplos destacados foram as secas de 2023 e 2024, que resultaram em incêndios florestais no território e na perda significativa das produções da agricultura familiar.
“Meu povo não sabe o que é mudanças climáticas. Para eles o que está ocorrendo são os sinais da volta de Deus. A gente tem que ensinar meu povo a viver essa nova vida com as mudanças no clima”, explicou DemétrioAmisipa, liderança do povo Tiriyó.
Outra preocupação foi a disseminação da vassoura de bruxa, doença causada pelo fungo Rhizoctonia theobromae que está afetando a cultura da mandioca, deixando as folhas das plantas secas e diminuindo a produtividade das roças que são essenciais para a subsistência nas aldeias.
Além disso, também foram apresentadas e debatidas estratégias para conter as invasões e o avanço do garimpo, que podem gerar problemas ambientais, sociais e de saúde nas populações.
Programa Grande Tumucumaque b732d
Muitas das ações propostas para a implementação do PGTA estão inseridas no Programa Grande Tumucumaque, iniciativa do Iepé e do Imazon, que visa monitorar o território e a biodiversidade de fauna e flora em Unidades de Conservação e Terras Indígenas do Norte do Pará, incluindo as TIs Parque Tumucumaque e Rio Paru d’Este. O projeto tem expectativa de duração de 15 anos e está promovendo formações e formulando estratégias de adaptação para as mudanças climáticas.
“Os esforços coletivos entre os povos originários e as organizações parceiras são essenciais para a proteção territorial e a preservação ambiental das TIs. A integração dos conhecimentos é determinante para o sucesso do Programa Grande Tumucumaque e para a conservação da biodiversidade dessas regiões, que são fundamentais tanto para o planeta quanto para as comunidades que nelas habitam”, afirmou Jakeline Pereira, diretora do Programa de Áreas Protegidas do Imazon.
