O documentário “Amazônia Sociedade Anônima” (2019), dirigido por Estêvão Ciavatta e coproduzido pelo Imazon, venceu nesta quinta-feira (17) o prêmio internacional One World Media Awards. Criada em 1988, a premiação é dedicada a reconhecer as melhores produções do hemisfério Sul que contem histórias que quebram estereótipos, mudam narrativas e conectam pessoas através de culturas. O reconhecimento é uma iniciativa da One World Media, uma organização não-governamental sediada em Londres, na Inglaterra, que tem como parcerias grandes empresas de comunicação como BBC, Al Jazeera e Google. A cerimônia de premiação ocorreu de forma online.
“O prêmio é um reconhecimento extraordinário a um trabalho liderado pelo Estêvão num momento em que a Amazônia sofre um ataque sem precedentes. É uma celebração em defesa da floresta e dos povos indígenas que mostra os bastidores da grilagem e do avanço do desmatamento na região, mas com a esperança de que a proteção vencerá”, afirma o cofundador do Imazon Beto Veríssimo, que foi um dos entrevistados do filme.
O longa documental conta a história de como, diante do fracasso do governo brasileiro em proteger a Amazônia, índios e ribeirinhos decidiram fazer uma união inédita para enfrentar as máfias que roubam terras e desmatam a floresta. Esses protetores são liderados pelo cacique Juarez Saw Munduruku, um dos principais personagens do filme.
“É a nossa floresta que nós estamos cuidando. E a gente vai cuidar da floresta”, afima Munduruku no documentário
A partir dessa história, o filme realiza uma imersão na Amazônia e mostra imagens e áudios inéditos das principais atividades que causam a destruição do bioma, como a grilagem, o garimpo e a extração de madeira. É um documentário que investiga e denuncia, mas que também é sensível e inflama os sentimentos de união e resistência. Um convite para nos engajarmos na proteção da floresta. Veja aqui o trailer:
