É possível atender à demanda crescente por carne bovina sem derrubar mais nenhuma árvore. Esse é o recado que o Radar Verde – indicador que mostra aos consumidores quais frigoríficos e supermercados têm maior controle e transparência sobre a carne que compram e vendem – vai levar para a 4ª edição da ExpoMeat – Feira Internacional para a Indústria de Processamento de Proteína Animal e Vegetal, evento que reúne os principais atores dessa cadeia produtiva, entre os dias 28 e 30 de março, no Distrito Anhembi, em São Paulo.
“Nós, do Radar Verde, levaremos informações aos participantes da ExpoMeat sobre como podemos ser a ferramenta para mostrar a transparência no setor”, explica a pesquisadora do Imazon, Ritamaura Pereira, que estará presente no estande montado no Anhembi.
“Mostraremos que o aumento da produtividade é um caminho possível e que o Brasil sabe como fazer o dever de casa, reduzindo desmatamento e aumentando o valor da produção agrícola ao mesmo tempo. Mas, para isso, é crucial termos transparência nas iniciativas dos elos envolvidos em toda cadeia de produção pecuária”, detalha.
Na programação, especialistas do Imazon e do Imaflora, parceiros do Radar Verde, participarão de rodas de conversa, apresentando dados e resultados de campo que mostram que é possível e realista falar em pecuária sustentável. “Frigoríficos e varejistas são elos importantes para dar transparência ao que está sendo feito para tornar isso uma realidade. É importante também que consumidores, setor financeiro e outros envolvidos saibam usar seu poder para pressionar por mudanças em prol do alcance do desmatamento zero na Amazônia Brasileira”, completa Ritamaura.
Entre os destaques da programação, está a presença de dois fazendeiros que vão contar como estão colocando essa teoria em prática em suas propriedades. Um deles é Mauro Lúcio Costa, dono da Fazenda Marupiara, em Paragominas (PA), que consegue produzir seis vezes mais que a média nacional, preservando 80% de sua propriedade. O outro é Luis Laranja, sócio e CEO da Caaporã Agrosilvopastoril, empresa produtora de proteínas animais integradas com sistemas agroflorestais, que falará como a atividade pecuária pode ser sustentável na Amazônia.
O Radar Verde estará todos os dias na ExpoMeat, no estande 112, que fica na rua 100, próximo à praça de alimentação. No dia 30 de março, às 16h, no Auditório Vitorino D’Almas, o pesquisador Paulo Barreto e o pecuarista Mauro Lúcio farão uma palestra sobre como aumentar a produção da pecuária sem desmatar a Amazônia.
