Imazon apresenta dados do monitoramento do desmatamento na Feira Pan-Amazônica do Livro 53kv
Para monitorar o desmatamento e a degradação ambiental na Amazônia, o Imazon publica mensalmente o boletim do Sistema de Alerta do Desmatamento – SAD. Amplamente utilizado por instituições, empresas e órgãos de governo, a publicação vai ser o assunto da palestra que acontece nesta terça, 31, às 16h no stand Sociedade em defesa da Amazônia, na XX Feira Pan-Amazônica do Livro.
O boletim mais recente, que será lançado durante a palestra pelo Instituto, revela um aumento de 700% na degradação ambiental em comparação ao mesmo período do ano ado, em especial na região Nordeste do Pará. Os dados do desmatamento apresentaram aumento pelo terceiro mês consecutivo, em um movimento que preocupa os especialistas. Para Marcelo Justino, palestrante e membro da equipe responsável pelo estudo, o aumento das taxas está ligado a pavimentação da rodovia BR-163, além da expansão da atividade agrícola e pecuária nos estados do Pará, Mato Grosso e Rondônia.
“Ter um boletim como o SAD é importante para garantir a transparência da informação e o o da população aos dados gerados”, afirma Marcelo, que reitera a contribuição do boletim em informar para punir quem comete crimes ambientais. A programação do stand vai até o dia 05 de junho, das 10h às 22h, com entrada franca.
