Imazon celebra o Dia da Amazônia e relança livro virtual sobre a história de ocupação da floresta 1s3s37
Para celebrar o Dia da Amazônia, comemorado em 5 de setembro, o Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia (Imazon) relança o livro “A floresta habitada: História da ocupação humana na Amazônia”, escrito pelas pesquisadoras Jakeline Pereira e Tatiana Corrêa Veríssimo e ilustrado por Livando Malcher e Biratan Porto, em uma live na próxima sexta-feira (04/09), às 17h30, com a participação do historiador Michel Pinho. A edição, revisitada e ilustrada, está disponível em versão virtual e para no site do instituto.
Com ilustrações e histórias em quadrinhos, informações históricas, geográficas e curiosidades, a publicação mostra que, diferente do que se pensa, a ocupação do território amazônico não começa com os colonizadores. Aqui existiam populações grandes e organizadas, que conviviam em harmonia com a natureza. A região amazônica carrega uma herança ancestral, com registros, até o momento, de aproximadamente 11 mil anos. Uma das hipóteses sugere que os asiáticos foram os primeiros imigrantes a chegar ao vale do rio Amazonas.
De acordo com a pesquisadora Jakeline Pereira, essas informações esclarecem acerca da nossa ancestralidade. “Como querem falar sobre desenvolver esse território, sem antes valorizar as pessoas que estão nele, sem valorizar o conhecimento dos povos da floresta? Eles sabem muito bem manejar os recursos”, diz. Por isso, o objetivo principal da publicação é ser um instrumento de conhecimento e valorização do povo amazônida.
“A ideia é que as pessoas, desde a criança, tenham o às literaturas como esta, para que possam conhecer esse patrimônio e defendê-lo”, completa. Nas páginas, o leitor pode conhecer os tesouros culturais que a floresta amazônica guarda, como pinturas rupestres, sua grande biodiversidade e os modos de viver dos povos que guardam a maior reserva natural do planeta.
A autora Tatiana Veríssimo ressalta que “o livro também é um documento para que os erros do ado, tais como a subjugação dos povos indígenas, a crença no monopólio de um ciclo econômico (borracha) e planos de desenvolvimento que não valorizam a floresta em pé não sejam mais cometidos. Como sabemos, a conservação da floresta é importante para o mundo todo pelos serviços ambientais que ela presta ao planeta. O livro apresenta esse conteúdo de forma mais leve, ilustrada, de fácil compreensão. O objetivo é fazer com que o leitor se encante pela grandiosidade e complexidade da região e compreenda que a natureza não é só um recurso, ela é, segundo os índios, um curso, um fluxo por si mesma”, destaca Veríssimo.
Metodologia
“A floresta habitada: História da ocupação humana na Amazônia” foi produzido a partir de metodologias colaborativas, com professores, pesquisadores do Imazon e comunidades das Unidades de Conservação, nas quais o Imazon atua. A publicação já vem sendo utilizada em escolas e grupos comunitários. Agora, estará ainda mais ível para toda sociedade.
