Imazon participa da 5ª Conferência Nacional do Meio Ambiente 371142
Instituto dialogou sobre reflorestamento e adaptação climática em Brasília
A 5ª Conferência Nacional do Meio Ambiente (5° CNMA) reuniu representantes de todo o país para debater propostas que vão ajudar na implementação da Política Nacional sobre Mudança do Clima. Após 11 anos da última edição e com o tema “Emergência Climática: o Desafio da Transformação Ecológica”, a etapa nacional é resultado de um amplo processo participativo, que envolveu 439 conferências municipais, 179 intermunicipais, 287 conferências livres e 27 conferências estaduais e distrital.
Ao todo, as propostas foram organizadas em cinco eixos: Mitigação; Adaptação e Preparação para Desastres; Justiça Climática; Transformação Ecológica; e Governança e Educação Ambiental. As discussões dos eixos foram levadas para 50 grupos de trabalho, cada um com cerca de 40 pessoas.
“Participar da etapa nacional é fundamental para garantir que as propostas construídas com base na realidade dos territórios ganhem visibilidade e sejam incorporadas nas políticas públicas. A conferência permite que vozes da Amazônia sejam ouvidas em um momento decisivo para o enfrentamento da crise climática”, afirma Ritaumaria Pereira, pesquisadora do Imazon e representante do Instituto na etapa nacional.
O Imazon contribuiu principalmente com o Eixo II – Adaptação e Preparação para Desastres, atuando especificamente no Grupo de Trabalho Recuperação e Reflorestamento, trazendo experiências técnicas e conhecimentos voltados à recomposição de Áreas de Preservação Permanente, corredores ecológicos e pagamento por serviços ambientais.
Entre as proposições do grupo que serão usadas como base para a atualização da política, estão:
Fomentar a recuperação de Áreas Protegidas e ecossistemas degradados com soluções baseadas na natureza, sistemas agroflorestais, drenagem, viveiros florestais de espécies nativas, corredores ecológicos e áreas verdes, priorizando territórios vulneráveis e fornecendo assistência técnica.
Estabelecer e executar planos de recuperação e/ou conservação dos recursos hídricos em nascentes, áreas alagadas, áreas de recarga e reflorestamento de matas ciliares, promover o desassoreamento e o sustentável a água, combate à poluição e, ampliando o saneamento com fossas sépticas e sistemas de fiscalização com participação social.
“Recuperar áreas degradadas é essencial para proteger os recursos hídricos, reduzir os riscos de desastres e garantir qualidade de vida para as populações que vivem na Amazônia. É preciso integrar ciência, políticas públicas e ações locais para que o reflorestamento seja efetivo”, afirma Ritaumaria, que também integra a organização do evento.
A 5° CNMA é coordenada pelo Ministério do Meio Ambiente e Mudança do Clima (MMA) e ocorreu em Brasília entre os dias 6 e 9 de maio, no Centro Internacional de Convenções do Brasil (CICB).
