Imazon realiza consulta pública para criação de unidade de conservação em Juruti 1bb2g

No último dia 04, foi realizada a Consulta Pública para a criação da Área de Proteção Ambiental do Jará, em Juruti. A Unidade de Conservação Municipal de Uso Sustentável ficará localizada ao redor dos lagos Jará, Laguinho, Tucunaré e parte do Curumucuri. A equipe técnica do Imazon esteve presente junto com membros do poder público local para receber a comunidade e apresentar os objetivos da criação da nova UC, benefícios e impactos do projeto, além de tirar todas as dúvidas da população presente que pôde contribuir com informações, críticas e sugestões.
“A consulta foi um sucesso. Contamos com a participação de aproximadamente 200 pessoas, um número bem considerável, o que mostra que existe um interesse da população local em saber mais sobre o processo e entender mais sobre a unidade”, avalia Renan Moura, pesquisador do Imazon.
O secretário de governo de Juruti, José Maria Melo, ressalta que a consulta pública representou um amplo debate sobre a APA do Jará. “Tivemos a oportunidade de tirar as dúvidas e chegar a conclusão que a criação da UC do Jará e muito útil para essa geração e para as gerações futuras”, reforça. O prefeito de Juruti, Henrique Costa, complementa que a unidade de conservação pode ainda gerar renda para a população local. “Existe a possibilidade dessa área receber investimentos de recursos de compensações ambientais para que haja um trabalho de recuperação de áreas degradadas e ainda projetos sociais para famílias que residem na área”, frisa.
De acordo com Renan Moura, a população apoiou o projeto de criação da Unidade de Conservação. “Os próximos os para a criação da unidade de conservação serão a de um decreto pela prefeitura. Em seguida, a formação do conselho consultivo, que é formado por entidades que representam a população local e o poder público. Depois, será feita a elaboração do plano de gestão, onde serão definidas as ações desenvolvidas dentro da unidade nos próximos 5 anos”, afirma o pesquisador.
A Unidade de Conservação tem o objetivo de garantir a proteção da biodiversidade, aumentar o potencial de geração de renda, com o incentivo do turismo de base comunitária, e ainda melhorar a qualidade de vida da população local, com a possibilidade de um novo espaço para lazer, esportes e contemplação da natureza.
