Municípios da Calha Norte iniciam adequação ambiental 5v914
Municípios da Calha Norte do rio Amazonas, no Pará, serão integrados ao Programa Municípios Verdes, que promove um pacto com entidades públicas, privadas e não governamentais que deverá promover o desenvolvimento econômico paraense ao mesmo tempo em que busca atingir a meta de desmatamento zero, com foco nos municípios. Nesta quarta (11) serão realizadas as primeiras reuniões com prefeituras e secretarias de meio ambiente de Óbidos e Oriximiná para apresentar o programa e a importância das metas estabelecidas para um desenvolvimento local sustentável.
O programa será implantado em breve também nos municípios de Monte Alegre e Alenquer. “Além dos municípios críticos onde ocorre o desmatamento, o PMV trabalha com os municípios de base florestal, onde a cobertura vegetal é alta e a pressão de desmatamento é baixa. Nestes municípios o foco é fortalecer a gestão ambiental municipal, estimular a economia florestal e aperfeiçoar a gestão das unidades de conservação. Por isso, começaremos a nossa viagem por Oriximiná e Óbidos, que são municípios bastante ativos no programa e que estão aptos a nos ajudar a implantar esta agenda”, afirma Justiniano Neto, Secretario Estadual de Municípios Verdes. Nessa iniciativa, a secretaria atua em parceria com o Imazon, Fundo Vale e Fundação Moore, que vêm ajudando a realizar a adequação ambiental de outras localidades no Pará.
