Secretários municipais de Meio Ambiente e lideranças de municípios do Pará se reuniram em Paragominas no dia 18 de agosto para o II Intercâmbio Ambiental. O evento proporcionou a troca de experiências sobre gestão ambiental entre os Municípios, entre eles as localidades de Abeu Figueiredo, Bom Jesus do Tocantins, Breu Branco, Dom Eliseu, Goianésia do Pará, Itupiranga, Jacundá, Paragominas, Rondon do Pará, Tailândia e Ulianópolis, que fazem parte do projeto “Criando Bases para a Gestão Socioambiental de Municípios Críticos do Desmatamento no Pará”
A iniciativa é do Instituto do Homem e Meio Ambiente da Amazônia – Imazon, com apoio do Fundo Amazônia. Entre os objetivos do projeto estão a redução do desmatamento e da degradação florestal, e a contribuição para a regularização ambiental. A ideia é consolidar um modelo de gestão socioambiental que possa ser replicado em municípios da Amazônia.
Durante o II Intercâmbio Ambiental, as lideranças discutiram a agenda de atividades do segundo semestre de 2011, além dos avanços das ações estabelecidas no Termo de Compromisso assinado com o Ministério Público Federal e o status do monitoramento da cobertura vegetal nesses municípios.
O Secretário de Meio Ambiente de Dom Eliseu, Edilberto Poggi, que participou também do I Intercâmbio Ambiental dos municípios realizado em abril deste ano, avaliou positivamente a iniciativa e.
“Agora que todos os 11 municípios já am os Pactos pela Redução do Desmatamento, pudemos contribuir mutuamente com informações sobre a execução do trabalho do monitoramento de desmatamento e queimadas, que é um fator importante para adequação ambiental”, explicou Poggi.
