Em outubro de 2010, o SAD detectou 153 quilômetros quadrados de desmatamento na Amazônia Legal. Isso representou uma redução de 21% em relação a outubro de 2009 quando o desmatamento somou 194 quilômetros quadrados.
O desmatamento acumulado no período de agosto de 2010 a outubro de 2010 totalizou 534 quilômetros quadrados. Em comparação com o período anterior (agosto 2009-outubro 2009) quando o desmatamento somou 682 quilômetros quadrados houve redução de 22%.
Em outubro de 2010 os estados com maior área desmatada foram Rondônia (34%) seguido do Amazonas com 30%. O restante do desmatamento ocorreu em Mato Grosso (16%), Pará (10%) e Acre (10%).
Foi possível monitorar com o SAD 60% da área florestal na Amazônia Legal em outubro de 2010. Os outros 40% estavam cobertos por nuvem o que dificultou o monitoramento na região principalmente no Pará que teve 56% da sua área de floresta coberta por nuvens. Isso pode ter afetado o ranking do desmatamento entre os Estados.
Em outubro de 2010, os 153 quilômetros quadrados de desmatamento detectados pelo SAD na Amazônia Legal comprometeram 9,5 milhões de toneladas de CO2 equivalente o que representa uma queda de 20% em relação a outubro de 2009.
O desmatamento acumulado no período de agosto de 2010 a outubro de 2010 resultou no comprometimento de 31,6 milhões de toneladas de C02 equivalentes. Isso representa uma redução de 24% em relação ao período anterior (agosto de 2009 a outubro de 2009) quando o carbono florestal afetado pelo desmatamento foi cerca de 42 milhões de toneladas de C02 equivalente.
As florestas degradadas na Amazônia Legal somaram 562 quilômetros quadrados em outubro de 2010. Em comparação com o período anterior (outubro de 2009) houve um aumento extremamente expressivo de 446% quando a degradação florestal somou 103 quilômetros quadrados. A maioria (59%) da degradação florestal ocorreu em Mato Grosso (59%).
A degradação florestal acumulada no período de agosto de 2010 a outubro de 2010 totalizou 2.617 quilômetros quadrados. Isso representou um aumento expressivo (244%) em comparação com o período anterior (agosto de 2009 a outubro de 2009) quando a degradação florestal somou 760 quilômetros quadrados.
