Este guia foi elaborado a partir do levantamento de experiências de voluntariado comunitário em Áreas Protegidas no Brasil, Nova Zelândia, Estados Unidos e Peru; e testada em 5 territórios: i) Unidade de Conservação – Floresta Estadual de Faro; ii) Unidade de Conservação – Área de Proteção Ambiental da Ilha do Combu; Território Quilombola do Ariramba; Comunidades ribeirinhas do entorno da Unidade de Conservação – Floresta Nacional Saracá-Taquera; e comunidades do interior e entorno da Unidade de Conservação – Área de Proteção Ambiental Paytuna. Ele é destinado aos gestores de Áreas Protegidas, educadores, entidades ambientalistas e afins que desejam credenciar Agentes Ambientais Comunitários na Amazônia.
O que é o programa Agentes Ambientais Comunitários?
É uma iniciativa de voluntariado na qual as comunidades participam ativamente da gestão ambiental de um território. A gestão participativa envolvendo comunidades poderá: i) melhorar o status de conservação do território, ii) ampliar o sentimento de pertencimento da comunidade, iii) reduzir conflitos socioambientais e iv) valorizar o conhecimento tradicional.
Onde o programa pode ser implementado?
Pode ser implementado em qualquer território sob gestão comunitária da Amazônia, como Unidades de Conservação, Territórios Indígenas, Territórios Quilombolas, Projetos de Assentamento da Reforma Agrária, comunidades rurais, entre outros.
